AWARD-WINNING ROOSEVELT RENDEZVOUS TO BE OFFERED AGAIN THIS FALL IN YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – April 20, 2009 – Exclusive use of the popular Roosevelt Lodge, exploration of Yellowstone National Park under the guidance of experts and the opportunity to compare notes at night will again be highlights of this year’s “Roosevelt Rendezvous.” New this year, participants will submit their comments and suggestions in advance, and that feedback will be implemented into the program.

The non-profit Yellowstone Association Institute and Yellowstone concessioner Xanterra Parks & Resorts offer the award-winning Lodging & Learning program this fall. Rendezvous participants have exclusive use of the popular Roosevelt Lodge for four-night programs in September after the lodge has closed to the general public.

Roosevelt Rendezvous includes lodging in a private cabin with a shared bath at Roosevelt Lodge; expert instruction by Institute naturalist/guides; breakfast, lunch and dinner each day; in-park transportation and evening programs with guest speakers. Roosevelt Rendezvous is designed as a four-day educational experience for up to 52 persons in each session. The program will be offered starting Sept. 11, 15 and 19, 2009. Rates are $679 per person based upon double occupancy and $813 per person for single occupancy. Rates do not include taxes or utility fee.

Recognized as the “best educational program” in a national competition sponsored by the Association of Partners for Public Lands, the program accommodates participants of varied interests and levels of physical fitness. Participants break into small groups during the day under the guidance of Institute naturalists to focus on hiking, geology, wildlife watching, history and other topics. This 2009 program will feature new field trip options influenced directly by participants’ feedback.  In the evenings everybody reconvenes at the lodge for buffet dinners, guest speakers and comparing notes.

Named for Yellowstone enthusiast and United States President Theodore Roosevelt, this log lodge and cabin facility was built in one of Roosevelt’s favorite areas of the park. The rustic cabins and family-style dining are very popular among families and national park enthusiasts alike.
