September 11-13, 2010
#905
Limit: 13
Minimum Age: 16
Location: Gardiner, Montana
Instructors: Jim Garry, M.S.

Explore Yellowstone’s famous Northern Range during its lively fall season, when you can see—and hear—what the elk are up to. Properly called the “Northern Winter Range,” this vast open area of Yellowstone is year-round habitat for many species. Through field trips and discussions, you’ll find out how the Northern Range landscape influences who lives here and what they do. Look for clues in the variations of geology, vegetation, and climate. You’ll also travel through a couple of thousand feet of elevation change—yet another factor in the variety of this vast land of wildlife.

Activity Level-Hikes up to 3 miles per day with elevation gains of up to 250 feet. Some off-trail hiking possible.

Start: September 11 at 9 a.m.
End: September 13 at 4 p.m.

Lodging is available at our Yellowstone Overlook cabins. Call 406-848-2400 to inquire or to reserve your room.
